Zinc can also be used for treatment of diabetes. It helps with the production and storage of insulin. Zinc can be found in fresh oysters, pecans, lamb, egg yolk, chicken, walnuts, and even buckwheat.

Some people believe that cinnamon has natural healing properties. Studies have shown that patients with diabetes type 2 who take just 3 grams of cinnamon up to three times per day experienced significant drops in their fasting blood glucose levels and overall cholesterol levels.

Natural remedies have been around since the beginning of time. Natural diabetes treatments are available for those who would rather abstain from prescription medications.

What is Diabetes Mellitus?

Diabetes Mellitus may sound like a component of diabetes, but it is actually the formal name for diabetes. Diabetes is a disease where the body does not control sugar in the body.

There are different types of diabetes: Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes. Diabetes mellitus refers to all types of diabetes. The reason for the different types of diabetes is because of the different reasons that cause diabetes. In Type 1 diabetes, the individual doesn’t make enough insulin. In Type 2 diabetes, the individual makes insulin but the body doesn’t use it effectively. Gestational diabetes occurs in women that did not have diabetes prior to pregnancy and they only have the diabetes during the pregnancy; simply put, gestational diabetes occurs because the woman is not making enough insulin to effectively use the extra blood sugar her body is creating to meet the growth needs of the baby.

Terms used to name diabetes have changed over the years. For instance, Type 2 diabetes was once referred to as Adult Onset Diabetes because it rarely occurred in children. However, the term Diabetes Mellitus has remained a constant because it is the formal, medical term for diabetes.
