Caught at an early state, doctors will just wait and see the progress the cancer makes before choosing prostate treatment cancer therapy.
Prostate cancer treatment can be treated in different ways. Your physician will take into account your other medical problems and the stage at which the cancer is found. You could receive hormones for your prostate treatment. The hormones would shut down the production of testosterone which is a male hormone.
Prostate cancer treatment could also include taking medication to stop testosterone from reaching the prostate cancer cells.
Radiation is another option for your prostate cancer. Radiation can be internal or external. External is directing radiation to the target area which would be a prostate treatment. Internal radiation is delivered by placing radioactive seeds in your prostate.
Prostate surgery may also be suggested for your for prostate cancer treatment. Prostate surgery could perform an orchiectomy which is removal of your testicles. You might be directed to have radiation or chemotherapy in addition to the prostate surgery.
Discuss with your doctor what he thinks you would do well with. Do not be afraid to ask questions and have all your concerns addressed. This is mainly a treatable cancer and you can have a long productive life once through treatment.
