What Are The 10 Healthiest Food On The Planet?
Recently, my office mate challenged me to name the 10 healthiest food. I found this very intriguing because, literally, there are thousands of food from which to choose! After pondering this question, it occurred to me that, most Americans get more than their fair share of meat and dairy products and thus, need no urging to include this food in their diets. We all know that excessive amount of fats, sugar and processed food are not good for us. This narrows our selection for the 10 healthiest food we should be consuming. While being ultra-rich in nutrients and cancer-fighting antioxidants, fruits and vegetables are perhaps the most neglected items on our menus.
Take a look at our list of 10 healthiest food and see if you do not agree that plenteous portions of these fruits and vegetables should not play a starring role at your table. You may be surprised to learn that each of this food has medicinal properties as well.
1. Berries: Nearly all berries are rejuvenating tonics for the heart and blood. Several studies have shown that a daily serving of berries, which is rich in potassium, can decrease the risk of stroke by as much as 40%. Most berries have antiviral properties in varying degrees and excellent as blood purifiers. It also work wonders for your complexion!
2. Broccoli: Like most dark, green leafy vegetables, broccoli is equally packed with nutrients and antioxidants. Broccoli has been shown to speed up the recovery period. Naturopathic physicians recommend generous daily servings of broccoli to patients recuperating from a lengthy illness.
3. Avocado: This fruit is reported to contribute in lowering blood cholesterol levels. In a V.A. Study, patients ranging from 27-72 years old were given 1/2-1 ¼ avocados each day. Around 50% of the patients experienced a decrease in serum cholesterol, ranging from 9-43%. Given that, we all need to monitor our cholesterol levels, and this tasty fruit deserves a spot on our list of 10 healthiest food.
