Dealing with Parkinson’s disease
Parkinson’s disease can result in a severe disruption to one’s normal lifestyle. Once the patient has intermediate or advanced stage Parkinson’s disease symptoms, he discovers that doing even routine activities becomes very difficult.
Making some basic lifestyle changes can help the patient cope better.
Think in terms of compensatory strategies. For instance, one of the issues Parkinson’s sufferers face is that they constantly drop objects like wallets.
To counteract this issue, try to use a large size wallet or purse that is easy to hold. Also, try to avoid having to dig into deep recesses within the wallet to retrieve coins and other items.
Those with symptoms of Parkinsons may find it easier to use credit or debit cards to make payments instead of using bills or coins.
Likewise, use shatter-proof tableware instead of delicate porcelain, to make life easier for all concerned.
A bit of forethought and planning can go a long way towards dealing with this health condition.
