Everyone who is toying with the idea of using laser surgery to correct their vision problems will first ask – which solution is the best for the money?

I have here four types of eye surgeries using lasers. I hope it can help you make informed decisions as to which one best suit your needs.

LTK Laser Eye Surgery – LTK stands for Laser Thermokeratoplasty. It is meant for treatment of astigmatism and farsightedness. The general idea behind this surgery method is in using the heat of a laser beam to reshape cornea. The disadvantage of this method is that the result is not long lasting. Its advantage is it is less expensive than other type of eye surgery using lasers.

Photorefractive Keratotomy (PRK) Laser Eye Surgery – Often called PRK. This surgery method is not only fast but precise as well. Patients can often go back to work three days after the operation! This operation involves reshaping the cornea by using ultraviolet rays to remove a tiny amount of tissues on the outer area of the cornea. The precision of how this is done is extremely high, and it can be completed within minutes. PRK is best for individuals having problems with astigmatism, nearsightedness or farsightedness.

Lasik Laser Eye Surgery – The word Lasik is an acronym for laser in-situ keratomileusis. It is quite a complex surgery method, and is not suitable for everyone. This surgery method involves cutting a small flap of the corneal tissue using a tool called microkeratome. The targeted tissue is below the flap, and it is later removed by a computerized machine. The flap is replaced later. The advantage of Lasik is that recovery is almost instantaneous, but the downside is its cost, which is relatively high.

Lasek Laser Eye Surgery – This is a fairly new method of laser eye surgery. Lasek is short for laser epithelial keratomileusis. It is considered a hybrid of lasik and PRK. It is best for patients whose cornea is too thin or too flat for lasik. There won’t be any cutting of flap. What the surgeon will do is soften the outer surface of the cornea, peel off its outer layer, and let lasers reshape the cornea. The outer layer is then placed back to its original position. Post surgery, soft contact lens would have to be worn to fasten and protect the healing process. Like Lasik, Lasek is not for everyone.

The key thing to always keep in mind when it comes to laser eye surgery (even if its Dallas lasik eye surgery) is that you should go to an established surgeon. Never settle for an operation based solely on price alone. You know the saying – you get what you paid for. So, be careful with cheap laser eye surgery offers.

It is important to understand what could hurt your eyesight and the ways to steer clear of injuries. It is also essential to understand what illnesses and types of conditions to look out for, if you are gonna look after your eye-sight. Here are some common eye problems and how to prevent them: With regards to injuries, you may impair your eyes through overexposure to ultra-violet illumination, or having anything tumble or fly right into them. You could avoid eyesight damage from ultra-violet light exposure by putting on sun shades that can remove the ultra violet rays. Putting on a cap which has a brim is incredibly beneficial. Every time you are close to any situation that could get into the eyes, you ought to be using protective safety glasses. You will also require them if you are engaging in anything with chemical compounds, and even household chemicals such as washing chemicals. As grown ups, most of us tend to get a tad reckless with regards to things like not putting on a headgear whenever we ride motorbikes. With regards to eye ailments, there are numerous kinds you should be conscious of, for example cataracts and diabetic retinopathy. Having a routine eye examination as part of your general health care is a good practice, and it might just keep laser surgery for eyes at bay.

For anyone considering a Lasik procedure to correct vision, it is crucial to find a doctor who is trustworthy, caring, and honest about lasik surgery cost. It is also very important to have a surgeon with great experience and knowledge about the LASIK procedure, and who has a history of satisfied patients.

This guide offers a series of basic questions you should ask when deciding on a Lasik center and which doctor to select for your Lasik procedure. The comfort you have during the process, and even the results you get may depend on getting good answers to these questions. It is important to realize that the answers to these questions vary from doctor to doctor.

The first question is “How long have you been performing this type of Lasik surgery?” There are several variations of the LASIK procedure and the doctor must have a history of at least three years to make the Lasik procedures. This amount of time also allows the doctor to see her patients and long-term success of your Lasik procedure.

Then ask the doctor about the number of Lasik procedures are performed in the past two years. The doctor should do the operation with sufficient frequency that is well versed in the procedures. The physician should perform at least 500 Lasik surgeries in the last two years.

Finally, ask about post-Lasik complications. The percentage of patients who suffer complications after 6 months has been completed should be 3 percent or less. If the doctor says that complications are so rare that he does not keep records, you must be very suspicious and ask for proof, if any. No doctor is perfect. Similarly, when asking the percentage of patients requiring an additional operation to achieve clear vision, the number must be less than 10 percent.

Finally, ask about the cost of the operation and if the financing plans available through the center of Lasik. A doctor who is willing to sit down and discuss these questions is often a doctor who will take care of other medical issues that arise, and is a good prospect to perform your LASIK procedure. It is just more important to find a good surgeon than to only worry about Lasik surgery cost!

The lasik cost may differ widely from 1 supplier to an additional and depends on many elements. The only universal standard is the fact that las.ik and other refractive surgery prices are quoted per eye (as we do on this article).

LASIK surgeons also might add extra costs for new technologies, including wavefront evaluation for additional precise corrections (customized wavefront lasik).

You also may be charged additional for all-laser or bladeless lasik (IntraLase along with other technologies), a lasi.k procedure in which a laser is used rather than a bladed instrument to create the flap around the entrance of the eye. In LASIK, this thin flap is lifted to ensure that laser power can be utilized to form the eye, after which replaced to serve as a organic bandage.

Keep in mind that 1 Lasik procedure equals only one eye even if each eyes are corrected around the exact same day. So the cost quoted to get a procedure doubles if you intend to have both eyes corrected.
